On Nov. 13, 2019, Pontchartrain Park’s nomination to the National Registry of Historic places passed unanimously by the New Orleans Historic District Landmarks Commission, advancing it to the next step in the nomination process: the State of Louisiana Historic Preservation Office, before final approval from the National Park Service in Washington D.C.

Gretchen Bradford, the President of Pontchartrain Park Neighborhood Association noted, “Special Thanks to Carrie Mingo Douglas, The Preservation Resource Center, Wiletta Ferdinand, Pam Williams, Eugene Green, Nathan Lott, Fallon Aidoo, Gaynelle Lawrence and the many others who worked tirelessly to get the job done. We are moving forward.”

SCOPE OF WORK

To determine the development opportunities and threats posed by the urban design of Pontchartrain Park—e.g. spacing between and massing of ”contributing properties.” A mixture of methods employed—morphological modeling, spatial statistics, ethnography and historical research.
